Summer School Learning Opportunities
The NNDSB is pleased to offer students across our district and beyond a number of opportunities for summer learning. Our registrations for high school credit courses will occur through the provincial PRISM system. All courses in this document are subject to sufficient staffing and enrolment to run.
- NNDSB students, please see your Guidance Counsellor in Student Services to register.
- Non-NNDSB students please see your Guidance Counsellor to register. We are using the PRISM system for all registration.
- International Students, course fees are $700 per 110 hr. full credit course and $350 for 55 hr. half credit course.
Please contact our summer school secretary Terri Reidt 705.472.5419 x. 5991. - Attendance is MANDATORY for all courses. Lack of attendance will result in removal from course.
- Online students will receive a welcome email from their teacher to their registered email address.
- Online students will need access to a device and reliable internet to connect to course content.

Additional Virtual Summer Learning Opportunities
The ɫֱ is offering a reach ahead opportunity to current NNDSB grade 8 students to receive a high school credit prior to beginning high school. This course focuses on Civics and Careers, to help students build confidence in their knowledge of being an active participant in society. Students will learn to develop and apply critical thinking skills to improve their learning about the role of social media influence, civic engagement and political processes. The Careers course helps students build confidence and motivation as well as knowledge about the workplace to pursue opportunities for success beyond high school.A CHV2OS and GLC2OS credit will be granted upon successful completion of each course.Contact your school’s office for details.
Additional In-Person Summer Learning Opportunities
Students working to complete the experiential learning requirements for their SHSM certificate and those students requiring co-op credit(s) to graduate will be given priority. Approved placements will be in-person. Please register with your guidance counsellor. One & two credits available for the GWL3O co-op course.
TOROS is back in full swing in the NNDSB. All parts of the program will be hosted at West Ferris Secondary School. Students from grade 8-12 will be able to participate in creating a high-quality production of “Seussical – the Musical” and earn a high school credit while doing it. Rehearsals will begin late May and continue through June on Sun, Mon, Wed 6:30-9:30. The course will run July 2nd – Aug 8th (Mon-Thurs 6pm-10pm). Information night and auditions will occur in early May, the program will begin mid-May and our show week will have performances Aug 4th-8th. There are many opportunities available including performers, stage crew, sound and lighting positions, costume/set/prop creation crew, etc. Students will get hands-on experience throughout this intensive program.

With the success of last couple years, we will again hosting an individual sport, skills-based credit open to grades 8-12 students across the North Bay area. Athletes will train daily at West Ferris Secondary School from 9:00am-12:00pm from July 2nd-July 25th, gaining practical skills and game play experience throughout this intensive program. There will also be an online asynchronous portion of the course focusing on healthy and active living. This focused course on basketball will no doubt improve each athlete’s basketball skills. PAL1O, 2O, 3O, or 4O credit will be granted upon successful completion of the course. Contact your school’s guidance office for details.

Additionally, we will again be hosting an individual sport, skills-based credit open to grades 8-12 students across the North Bay area. Athletes will train daily at West Ferris Secondary School from 12:30pm-3:30pm from July 2nd-July 25th, gaining practical skills, game play experience and sport leadership opportunities throughout this intensive program. There will also be an online asynchronous portion of the course focusing on healthy and active living. This focused course on volleyball will no doubt improve each athlete’s volleyball skills. A PAL1O, 2O, 3O, or 4O credit will be granted upon successful completion of the course. Contact your school’s guidance office for details.
